Greg

Hi! My name’s Greg and I’m a singer, multi instrumentalist and creative facilitator born in Newport, South Wales. I write instrumental piano music, write and perform upbeat folk music and run creative sound workshops with young people.

I have composed for film and tv projects, played live shows across the UK and USA, lead a creative education project as digital artist in residence at Tate, made a language inventor with Shakespeare’s Globe and remixed the London Symphony Orchestra’s string section with the help of 300 children.

I have released 3 solo piano albums and several singles as a singer-songwriter.

As a singer and producer I won “Best Acoustic Act” at the Download Music Awards and spent two weeks at number 1 on the International Independent Charts with my first single. I have had multiple plays on BBC Radio and was featured as BBC Introducing’s ‘Artist of The Week’. As a pianist, I have won 7 independent music awards and showcased my piano compositions at the Grammy Museum in LA.

Immediately forgetting why I walked into a room is a daily occurrence.

Anyway, enough about me…

Music

I divide the majority of my time between the following things:

  • Writing classical piano music. (‘Mountain Rain’ would be a good place to start listening).
  • Writing music for film.

Writing and recording pop, country, folk and acoustic music for both myself and other musicians (check out ‘Memphis Time’ to hear what I’m on about).

Getting bored and doing ridiculous alternative covers of the unlikeliest songs. (James Blunt, Meatloaf and and Train all feature!)

As a result of this, people often get a bit scared when they venture over to my Soundcloud page looking for some calming piano music and suddenly stumble upon an folk-pop cover of Meatloaf’s ‘Bat Out Of Hell’.

Luckily I have organised some samples of all my musical ventures into four easily digestible playlists!
